    A dramatic blaze at Vauxhall station leaves commuters stranded today, with passengers describing the scenes of overcrowding as "carnage".

    The west Trains services were hit with delays after the huge fire broke out at 2.30am.

    Severe delays continued until 10am, as a huge selection of Londoners were seen crammed onto platforms en route to operate.

    On Twitter South West Trains said: "A fire at Vauxhall station means trains through this station are susceptible to alterations.

    "Please use alternative routes traveling into London even as have limited services because of fire at Vauxhall."

    Commuters at Clapham Junction described the scenes of overcrowding as a result of severe delays as "carnage".

    The hearth started on platforms 3 and 4, with dramatic pictures showing several firefighters still battle the incident inside the daylight.

    'Only travel if absolutely necessary'

    In one image the track is seen being severely burned.

    South West Trains warned commuters on social media marketing: "Only travel if essential."

    Trains travelling into Waterloo station were cancelled because the fallout from your blaze continued.

    London Fire Brigade Station Manager John Ryan said: "Once the energy was isolated firefighters quickly got to work to tackle the fire.

    Trains are anticipated to be delayed until 10am

    "We're currently assessing simply how much electrical cabling has been affected and damping down pockets of fireplace.

    "The fire will impact on travel today and we'd ask visitors to check before they travel."

    Five from the eight main lines open to trains were released useful.

    Riding on the bus station at Vauxhall have also been closed as a result of smoke billowing in the train track.
